Volunteer Role | Flexible Hours | Hybrid working
The Historic Army Aircraft Flight (HAAF) is seeking an enthusiastic Volunteer Fundraising & Partnerships Manager to help us develop the income needed to preserve, maintain and operate our unique collection of historic former British Army aircraft.
Based at Middle Wallop, the HAAF is run completely by volunteers, who give their time, professional skills and expertise to preserve and operate these important examples of British Army aviation history and, where possible, keep them flying.
The opportunity
HAAF has developed a fundraising and income plan and is now looking for someone to take the lead in turning those opportunities into results.
You will not be starting with a blank sheet of paper. Potential income streams have already been identified, including:
- Corporate sponsorship and partnerships
- Aviation and defence-industry support
- Charitable grants
- Donations
- Fundraising events
- Passenger flying experiences
- HAAF merchandise
- Supporter and veteran engagement
Your role will be to help HAAF develop these opportunities into a structured and sustainable fundraising programme.
What you could be doing
Working with HAAF’s Trustees and volunteer team, you could:
- Identify suitable grant opportunities and funding programmes.
- Help prepare and coordinate grant applications.
- Approach potential corporate sponsors and partners.
- Develop relationships with aviation, aerospace and defence companies.
- Build relationships with military and veteran organisations.
- Maintain a simple fundraising opportunity and sponsorship pipeline.
- Help develop fundraising initiatives around HAAF events.
- Develop supporter and donor relationships.
- Help promote HAAF’s passenger flying experiences.
- Provide a short monthly fundraising progress update to the Trustees.
Who we are looking for
You do not need to be an aviation expert. We would particularly like to hear from people with experience in one or more of the following:
- Fundraising
- Grant applications
- Business development and sales
- Sponsorship and marketing
- Corporate partnerships
- Defence or aerospace
- Charity management
This could particularly suit someone who has recently retired or is on a career break and would like to use their professional experience to support an unusual and worthwhile aviation heritage organisation.
Time committment
Approximately 4–6 flexible hours per week, although this can be adapted to suit the right volunteer.
Much of the work can be carried out from home, with occasional visits to HAAF at Middle Wallop and attendance at meetings or events where useful.

The funds you help raise will contribute towards maintaining these aircraft and ensuring that future generations can experience Britain’s Army aviation heritage.
You will work alongside pilots, engineers and other volunteers who give their time and expertise to keep these aircraft alive.
